Adnan R. Khan, MD

Dr. Adnan Khan is the medical director of Integrated Cellular and Molecular Diagnostics. He is a board-certified, fellowship-trained pathologist with a special interest in gastrointestinal and liver pathology. Dr. Khan completed a comprehensive fellowship in gastrointestinal and liver pathology at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) upon completion of residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at the University of Maryland Medical Center. He has had professional experiences at The Johns Hopkins Hospital as well as the former Armed Forces Institute of Pathology. Prior to residency, Dr. Khan received his medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia, graduated summa cum laude from George Mason University, and was valedictorian of his high school class. Dr. Khan’s goal is to provide all patients with accurate and state-of-the-art diagnostics.

 

Thomas A. Huebner, MD

Dr. Thomas Huebner is a board-certified, fellowship-trained pathologist with special interests in gastrointestinal, pancreatobiliary, liver, and general surgical pathology. Dr. Huebner has received advanced specialty training in gastrointestinal and liver pathology as well as surgical pathology at The Johns Hopkins Hospital after completing four years of residency training in anatomic and clinical pathology at the University of Maryland Medical Center where he served with distinction as Chief Resident. Prior to residency, Dr. Huebner earned his medical doctorate from Eastern Virginia Medical School and a B.S. in Physiology and Neurobiology from The University of Maryland at College Park. Dr. Huebner believes that quality patient care is directly related to effective clinician-pathologist working relationships, a measure which he strives to develop and nurture daily. Originally from Elkton, Maryland, Dr. Huebner now resides in the Baltimore/Washington metro area.

 

Alexandra A. Bovbel, MD

Dr. Alexandra A. Bovbel is a board-certified, fellowship-trained pathologist with special interests in cytology and breast pathology. Dr. Bovbel received her medical degree at the renowned I.M. Sechenov Medical Academy in Moscow, Russia and completed her residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC. Dr. Bovbel received advanced professional training at the Johns Hopkins Hospital, and Children’s National Medical Center. Dr. Bovbel completed comprehensive fellowships in Cytology and Breast Pathology at the University of Florida-Shands. Dr. Bovbel strives to develop positive interactive working relationships with physicians to help attending physicians to better communicate, nurture, and serve their patients. Dr. Bovbel resides in the greater Washington, DC metropolitan area.

 

Fralmer R. Nierva

Fralmer Nierva is a senior executive holding the position of Laboratory Director leading the operations of the company’s main laboratory. He is an expert in the field of laboratory medicine with extensive administrative and technical management experience in both small and complex surgical and anatomic pathology laboratories, including such prestigious entities as Inova Health Systems, Kaiser Permanente and MedStar Health. Fralmer’s management hallmark is his ability to balance compliance with the demands of laboratory operations. He also leads the company’s services for design implementation for independent start-up and physician-own laboratories. He currently holds a consultative position in the nation’s oldest Consultant Firm, Pitt’s Management Group and functions as a peer inspector for the College of American Pathologists (CAP). Originally from the Philippines, Fralmer received his undergraduate and graduate education with subspecialization in immunology, epidemiology and biochemistry from the Institute of Public Health, College of Medicine, University of the Philippines and New York State University, Albany. After receiving his initial histopathology technical training at the (former) Armed Forces Institute of Pathology (AFIP), Fralmer completed his military service at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. While Fralmer is easygoing by nature, he is direct and decisive when necessary, ensuing the respect not only by his staff but by his colleagues and those in senior management. He leads mainly by example, always “doing what is right and doing your best for the patient” encouraging others to do the same.

 

Amin R. Khan, MD

Dr. Amin Khan is a board-certified gastroenterologist/hepatologist who has been working as a consultant for ICMD. He graduated from a six-year combined BS/MD accelerated program from Northeast Ohio Medical University. Subsequently, he completed his Internal Medicine Residency and Gastroenterology/Hepatology/Therapeutic Endoscopy Fellowship from Penn State Hershey Medical Center. His many years of clinical practice and experiences in serving on hospital committees combined with being a medical director of a surgery center gives him unique insight into the relationship between diagnostic tests, physicians, and patient outcomes. Dr. Khan’s goal is to ensure the validated and accurate results from ICMD be conveyed in the most efficient and convenient method to physicians and patients.

 

Mr. Richard Puritz

Mr. Richard Puritz is the Vice President of Business Development for Integrated Cellular and Molecular Diagnostics. Richard brings 20 years of medical sales development and management experience to ICMD. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from East Carolina University. Richard’s interactive and collaborative approach has developed business partnerships around the country within the private medical practice and hospital-based communities. Mr. Puritz brings his passion for helping medical providers and patients alike by developing mutually beneficial partnerships that allow practices to grow while proving patients with the best medical care available.

 

Ms. Shannon Smith, B.M., M.M.

Ms. Shannon Smith is deeply committed to ensuring a positive and successful outcome for every client ICMD supports. She joined ICMD in 2017 as a Client Services Specialist bringing five years of retail operations management experience. With a Bachelor of Music degree from Wheaton College and a Master of Music degree from The Boston Conservatory, Shannon brings the discipline and drive of a professional musician to the laboratory. Shannon’s excellent interpersonal skills, rapport-building, and attention to detail resulted in a quick promotion to Operations Manager. Shannon successfully provides leadership to multi-functional service areas — from customer service, supply and inventory, administrative support, and logistics. By providing strategic vision and meticulous management direction, Shannon consistently works to continually uphold the standard of excellence at ICMD. Shannon also serves as a liaison for the Vice-President of Business Development, Laboratory Director and Laboratory Medical Director in the engagement of key strategic projects.
